Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) was released on April 21, 2016. It includes the latest, long-term supported Linux kernel 4.4.6, the ability to move the Unity Launcher to the bottom of the screen. It comes with LibreOffice 5.1.1, GNOME Software as the default package manager, and GNOME Calendar. Ubuntu 16.04 has added support for ZFS. Finally, Ubuntu 16.04 introduces Ubuntu Snappy to the desktop which is new package management solution. Think of Snappy as an alternative to .deb files and PPAs. The Unity 8 desktop isn’t included on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS by default, but it’s available to install from the repositories as a preview. If all goes as planned, Ubuntu 16.10 will feature Unity 8 by default.

Tiny Core Linux 7.2 New Features and Improvements

Tiny Core Linux 7.2 comes in multiple editions: Core, Core Plus, and TinyCore. While Core and TinyCore versions are available for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, Core Plus is only developed for x86 platforms. Tiny Core Linux 7.2 release doesn’t bring many major changes. According to the release notes, new features implemented in Tiny Core Linux 7.2 include improvement to on-demand in the tc-functions script, a patch that allows passing of arguments and quoting of arguments to on-demand and tc-functions, and support for passing arguments to on-demand items that do not contain a .desktop file.
